HOMETOWN: Beaumont, Texas

EDUCATION/CAREER TRACK: Junior political science major; with the goal — hopefully — to become a reporter for a metro daily after I graduate. Eventually, I want to be a national political reporter or columnist.

MOST UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE ON THE JOB: What I called News Challenge 2007. I was city editor, and there was a shortage of stories, topped off by breaking news, so in a period of a little over two hours I wrote four stories.

SOMETHING PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME: I’ve wanted to be a journalist since fifth grade.

IF I HAD TWO SPARE HOURS, I WOULD: Sit down and ready that day’s issue of The New York Times.

WHY AM I WORKING FOR THE BATTALION: It offers me a creative (and journalistic) outlet during the school year. It’s fun.
