Junior Brea Garrett broke her own school record Saturday in the 20-pound throw at the Aggie Invitational.

The Texas A&M men’s and women’s track and field teams, ranked No. 5 and No. 2, respectively, swept the eight-team field in Saturday’s Aggie Invitational in front of 1,904 fans at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

A&M junior Brea Garrett threw her way into the national rankings in the women’s weight throw by improving her previous school record of 68-2.75 (20.82) to 74-4.25 (22.6) in the 20-pound event. Garrett’s throw of 74-4.25 (22.6) overtakes the previous mark of 73-4 and makes her the yearly collegiate leader in 2014 and the No. 10 collegian all-time. Garrett’s throw is the fourth-best mark this season among professionals and collegians and moves her to No. 7 among U.S. collegians.

The Aggies won both team titles as the men totaled 160 points and the women racked up 172 points. LSU and Tennessee — the only other SEC teams at the meet — rounded out the top three in both team chases.
