On a week where Coach Pat Henry was "very pleased" about student athletes that signed their national letter of intent to join the A&M track team, Coach Henryhe and his squad travel to The Armory in New York, N.Y. to compete in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational Friday and Saturday.

Over 100 schools will be attending this event — from schools like Kingsborough and Nassau Community Colleges to Ivy Leagues schools like Princeton and Columbia all the way to elite track schools teams known for track such as LSUouisiana State and Arkansas.

As the season gets closer progresses and closer towards the Big 12 Indoor Championships, which takes place on Feb.ruary 24, Coach Henry said that it is time to be more selective with the events in which A&M participatesabout which races he puts the student athletes in.

"We'll be a little more select on the events that we have people in," Henry said. "I'm going to have to evaluate what we do with the mile relay in New York, but individual event wise we'll be a little more select in what we do."

The Aggies have competed strongly in the past couple of years, grabbing first place for both the men's and women's teams in 2010 and finishing second and third last season in men's and women's, respectively. and the men coming in second and the women coming in third last year.

Texas A&M has been known for their mile relay teams in past years, breaking the women's record at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational last year. Twhile the men fell just short — barely — coming in at 3:08.99 and missing the mark of 3:07.41.

Senior middle distance runner Joey Roberts remembered his time on was on the mile relay team last year and said that they have some "unfinished business" because they didn't break the record last year, stating his desire to perform better on this go-round.

"We've got some unfinished business in New York," Roberts said. "There's a 4x400 record that's just calling out our name. Last year we wanted to break that record badly, and this time around we want to make that record stand for about 50 years., I'm dead serious."

After breaking many records at home this seasonin the season so far, the Aggie Indoor teams will make its first of two road tripstravel for the first time of only two times in the indoor season —– the other being the national championship in Idaho.

On the track websiteAccording to the track website, www.armorytrack.com, it states that each team will be is looking for a little more of the spotlight this time of the year.

"The New Balance Collegiate Invitational has simply become the biggest and best college indoor meet in the nation. This is an invitational event with an eye on both regional and national interests."

This meet is an opportunity for the Texas A&M men's and women's track teams will look to use this meet to continue to climb up the rankings from No. 9 and No. 11, respectively.
