A&M Suffers Bittersweet Ending to Otherwise Remarkable Season

Marijosse Navarro’s final round of +4 (76)  on Memorial Day wrapped up the sophomore golfer’s showing at the NCAA Championship in Bradenton, Florida, in a tie for 21st place, individually, and effectively concluded the Texas A&M women’s golf team’s 2014-15 campaign.

Errors doom Aggie baseball in 12-3 semifinal loss to Vanderbilt

After defeating Vanderbilt on Thursday afternoon, the Aggies advanced to the SEC Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history. Vanderbilt won their elimination game to set up a rematch on Saturday. The outcome was far different this time, as Vanderbilt ripped the Aggie pitching staff for a 12-3 win over A&M. The loss brings the Aggies’ SEC Tournament run to a close.

A&M tennis All-Americans fall in round of 16

The two individuals remaining in the NCAA tournament representing Texas A&M both fell Friday in the round of 16 in Waco.  Although they will be going home, Jeremy Efferding and Saska Gavrilovska will both be walking away as All-Americans.

Aggies move into SEC semifinals with win over Vanderbilt

Coming into the weekend, A&M needed one more solid win to assure a national seed in the NCAA Tournament. Thursday afternoon, the Aggies got the win they needed in a 6-1 victory over Vanderbilt. Matt Kent was the Aggie star, throwing a clutch, complete game on the mound for A&M.

Aggies earn All-American honors at tennis NCAA Championships

Following the first round of play in the NCAA individual tournament there were only two Aggies left standing, Jeremy Efferding representing the Texas A&M men’s tennis team and Saska Gavrilovska from the women’s team. In addition to the two players competing individually, there was also one women’s doubles duo and two men’s doubles teams entering the tournament on Thursday.

Aggies overcome another deficit to advance to winner's bracket of SEC Tournament

In their earliest start time of the season, the Aggie baseball team got off to a slow start against Alabama. Sloppy play and errors led to early runs in their first action of the SEC Tournament. However, as it has displayed all year, A&M showed their resiliency once again, overcoming an early three run deficit to earn a 4-3 win over the Crimson Tide. The win moves the Aggies into the winners bracket in the SEC Tournament.

Aggie baseball prepares to begin postseason play

After a long season of rain delays, double headers and record breaking innings, the college baseball postseason has arrived. The six day SEC Tournament gets underway on Tuesday afternoon from Hoover, Alabama. Day one is single elimination, but from the second round on, the tournament will be double elimination.

A&M track and field finishes second at SEC outdoor championship

The Texas A&M track and field team finished second in both divisions at the 2015 Outdoor SEC Championships in Starkville, Mississippi this weekend. The No. 9 women finished 23.5 points behind champion Arkansas with a team total of 104 points. The No. 1 men tied with Arkansas to earn a share of the runner up position behind men’s champion Florida.

Aggies see season cut short after a 2-0 loss against OU

Elimination of Arnaus and Yate in Lubbock Regional concludes Aggie men's golf's season

Neither Adrià Arnaus nor Greg Yates will continue to represent Texas A&M men’s golf  team in NCAA postseason play after both golfers fell short in the NCAA Lubbock Regional at the Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday.

Rain cancellations halt Ole Miss series, A&M splits to earn bye in SEC tournament

In a weekend yet again delayed by inclement weather, the Aggie baseball team split their final SEC series of the season with Ole Miss. A&M took the first game 4-0, while the Rebels stole game two in a 7-4 victory for their 30th win of the year.

Aggie women’s tennis made their third straight sweet 16 this year,despite not having a senior on the roster. On Friday, however, their tournament run came to a close with a 4-1 loss to defending national champion UCLA in Waco.

Men’s tennis heads to the Elite 8

The No. 5 Texas A&M men’s tennis team punched their ticket to the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament Thursday when they defeated the No. 11 Ohio State Buckeyes by a tight score of 4-3. The trip to the quarterfinals is just the second in program history and the first since the introduction of Head Coach Steve Denton.

Long's seven innings shutout the Rebels in the game one victory

The race for the SEC regular season crown is a tight one, and the Aggies still have an outside shot at winning the SEC. Thursday night, they kept those hopes alive with a 3-0 win over the Ole Miss Rebels. The star of the night for A&M was Grayson Long, who threw a 12 strikeout gem for the Aggies on the mound.

Fastest House in the world

Each duplex, townhome and apartment in College Station represents its own little family made up of students — many of whom are away from home for the first time — brought together by happenstance and necessity, people bound by friendship and a 12-month lease. This is a picture of one those little mismatched families. This is a picture of three friends from three places who wound up at Texas A&M. Three friends who, in a few days, will graduate and go their separate ways.

A&M softball lands spot in Oklahoma NCAA regional

Allemand hits first career walk off to even series on senior weekend

Saturday afternoon the Aggies and South Carolina played one of their best baseball games of the season. In a high scoring, power hitting affair, the Aggies erased deficits of 5-0, 9-6 and 13-9, and a Blake Allemand walk off double gave the Aggies a 15-14 win over the Gamecocks in game two of the series. The teams combined for 29 runs in the game, and the win keeps A&M's hopes alive for an SEC regular season title.

In their final SEC home series of the season, the Aggie baseball team needed a win on Friday night to keep pace with LSU in the SEC West. In a roller coaster of a game, the Aggies could not overcome their mistakes and dropped game one of the series 9-7 against South Carolina.

New seams on baseballs give Aggie bats extra pop

This spring the Division 1 Baseball Committee made the decision to implement a new style of collegiate baseball. The raised-seamed baseballs used in the past have been replaced by new, flat-seamed balls introduced with the intent of increasing the level of offense and, in turn, the excitement of the game.

Throwers take day in last track meet before SEC Championships

The Texas A&M track and field team (men No. 1, women No. 9) spent Saturday in Fort Worth at the Horned Frog Invitational, where the Aggies put together a dominant performance in their last meet before the SEC championships. The Aggies notched 18 total victories at the Lowden Track and Field Complex, 13 of which were produced in the field events alone.

Q&A — Josh Lambo reflects on experiences, finds home with Chargers

Battalion sports writer Lawrence Smelser caught up with Josh Lambo the day before the NFL Draft. Lambo, who was reportedly picked up in free agency by the San Diego Chargers shortly after the draft, was the placekicker for Texas A&M from 2012 to 2014 and his career long was 50 yards.
