New seams on baseballs give Aggie bats extra pop

This spring the Division 1 Baseball Committee made the decision to implement a new style of collegiate baseball. The raised-seamed baseballs used in the past have been replaced by new, flat-seamed balls introduced with the intent of increasing the level of offense and, in turn, the excitement of the game.

Throwers take day in last track meet before SEC Championships

The Texas A&M track and field team (men No. 1, women No. 9) spent Saturday in Fort Worth at the Horned Frog Invitational, where the Aggies put together a dominant performance in their last meet before the SEC championships. The Aggies notched 18 total victories at the Lowden Track and Field Complex, 13 of which were produced in the field events alone.

Aggie softball completes home sweep in last series before SEC tournament

On senior day at the Aggie softball Complex, the Aggies wanted to win it for their four seniors at their final game in College Station. After some struggling and some fighting, the Aggies ended up finding a way to win.

Sunday win knots Tennessee sweep for A&M baseball

The last sweep for the Aggie baseball team came in March, at the beginning of SEC play, against Auburn. On Sunday A&M did it again, earning an 8-7 win over Tennessee to complete a road sweep against the Volunteers on the road.

Q&A — Josh Lambo reflects on experiences, finds home with Chargers

Battalion sports writer Lawrence Smelser caught up with Josh Lambo the day before the NFL Draft. Lambo, who was reportedly picked up in free agency by the San Diego Chargers shortly after the draft, was the placekicker for Texas A&M from 2012 to 2014 and his career long was 50 yards.

A&M baseball prepares to take on Tennessee

After avoiding the sweep last Saturday at LSU, A&M came back to Olsen Field on Tuesday and won a thrilling 11-inning game with a walk-off single from Logan Nottebrok to defeat Texas State 8-7.

Women's golf lands NCAA bid in San Antonio

Women's track extends historic streak, men execute across the board

The Texas A&M women’s 4x100 relay won their seventh consecutive Penn Relay title on Friday with a time of 43.76. The Aggies were able to edge out in state rival Texas (44.36) to extend what is the longest current winning streak in any of the women’s relays at the historic event, now in its 121st year.

It was a challenging weekend for Aggie baseball. They dropped two games of their series against LSU in heartbreaking fashion, but on Saturday, they changed that four-game SEC losing streak with a 6-2 victory over the LSU Tigers to avoid the weekend sweep.

The No. 1 Texas A&M men and women’s track and field teams are set to spend an extended weekend in the city of brotherly love as they compete in the 121st Penn Relay Carnival. The Aggies have enjoyed recent success at the event, claiming six consecutive 4x100 relay victories and taking the top spot in six of the past seven 4x200 relay races.

Stewart works at the Health Science Center at Texas A&M, but is known at Olsen Field as “Stat Boy” — an Aggie baseball super-fan with more than 1,500 Twitter followers who keeps statistics at the games.

Track accumulates five wins before inclement weather halts meet

The Texas A&M track and field team was able to notch five victories in Waco at the Michael Johnson Classic before inclement weather converged on the facilities and led to a premature end to the evening’s running session. Events that remained uncontested due to the weather include the men and women’s 200 m, the women’s 5000 m, and both 4x400 relays. Some final results in the field events were also affected.
