Wolf Pen Creek’s annual “Christmas at the Creek” festival’s 2,000 square foot synthetic ice rink will remain open until Thursday. Skating is $7 per person and will be operating from 1-7 p.m.
Spirit Ice Arena is hosting its annual 2014 Christmas Ice Show featuring classic cartoon shows including “Frosty the Snowman,” “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” “The Year Without a Santa Claus” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 at the door, and the show is at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Saturday.
The Brazos Valley Chorale will perform its December concert, “Songs of the Angels,” on Monday at the First Presbyterian Church. Along with various carols with which audience members can sing along, the choir will showcase songs that pertain to celestial beings, such as Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” and “Magnificat,” the song that features Mary’s response to the angel Gabriel’s visit. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door for adults and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The all-male a capella group Apotheosis will perform its free Christmas Concert on Wednesday. Guests are encouraged to bring two canned foods to be donated to the Brazos Valley Food Bank.The performance will start at 7 p.m. and will take place in Rudder Theater.
The Brazos Valley Symphonic Orchestra will collaborate with guest artists to perform its “Holiday Pops” Concert on Sunday at the Christ United Methodist Church. Featuring songs like “Jingle Bells” and “Hanukkah Medley,” this concert will provide a cookie reception after the show. The show is at 5 p.m. and tickets are $25.
Downtown Bryan is hosting its nighttime parade Friday. Winding through various streets, the parade will feature local bands from around Bryan-College Station, student groups and lighted floats. The parade will start at 6:30 p.m. on West 26th Street.
Santa’s Wonderland has opened its doors again for its annual run until Jan. 4, 2015. Just outside College Station on Highway 6 South, there will be new holiday lights and decorations added, as well as food and drink provided for ticketholders. There are three ways to enjoy the lights — by car, by hayride or by horse-drawn carriage. Doors open at 6 p.m. on weekdays and at 3 p.m. on weekends.
MSC CAMAC will present Las Posadas on Tuesday. The program will feature the story of Mary and Joseph and their search for shelter, as per Mexican tradition, with the purpose of bringing the community together and to help the students of Texas A&M with their understanding of the Mexican culture. The event will begin every 30 minutes in Reynolds Gallery in the MSC from 6-8 p.m. and will include tamales, hot chocolate and sweet bread.
