After allegations of abuse against a child at the Becky Gates Children’s Center, built by Texas A&M University, surfaced weeks ago, June Jones, a former teacher at the center was arrested after an investigation by the University Police Department.
Jones was fired following her arrest.
Near the end of May, Texas Family and Protection Services contacted UPD regarding a teacher allegedly grabbing a 4-year-old boy’s neck and pulling his hair.
UPD then launched a full investigation and through surveillance video found sufficient evidence for probable cause to submit a warrant alleging injury to a child to the Brazos County Courts, according to UPD Lt. Allan Baron.
Jones was arrested for those charges June 13 but was released on bail the next day for $8,000.
After her arrest, more parents have come forward with additional allegations of abuse of their children by Jones.
Each allegation will be investigated individually and are underway, Baron said.
