Nevada 19 Texas Tech 35
Though the Wolf Pack were unable to score an offensive touchdown in the first three quarters, their defense held the Red Raider offense to 21 points during that time. An 82-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter by Tech receiver Michael Crabtree clinched the win for the Raiders.

UTEP 13 Texas 42
The Miners trailed the Longhorns 7-6 after the first quarter. However, Texas pulled away in the second quarter with three unanswered touchdowns. The Longhorns clinched the victory with two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Colt McCoy led the 'Horns with 282 passing yards and four passing touchdowns.

Baylor 51 N'Western St. 6
After losing 41-13 in the first week of play, Baylor rebounded with a win over a Division I-AA school. Bears quarterback Robert Griffin controlled the game by passing for 294 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 42 yards and scored a touchdown on the ground.

Oklahoma 52 Cincinnati 26
Sooner quarterback Sam Bradford threw for 395 yards and five touchdowns against the Bearcats. Cincinnati played OU close in the first half, trailing 21-14 at halftime, but the Sooners pulled away in the second half, scoring 31 points to the Bearcats 13.

New Mexico 22 A&M 28
Backup Aggie quarterback Jerrod Johnson replaced veteran quarterback Stephen McGee when McGee went down with an injury in the first quarter. Johnson threw for 124 yards and three touchdowns, two of which went to freshman receiver Jeff Fuller.

Oklahoma St. 56 Houston 37
Though the Cowboys trailed the Cougars 14-16 at halftime, they took control of the game in the third quarter. OSU scored four touchdowns in the third quarter: two on the ground, and two through the air. Houston was unable to catch up in the fourth quarter.
