Students, faculty and visitors who drive a vehicle to campus must have a parking pass if they want to park, unless they want to pay garage fees that are regulated by how long they leave their vehicle.

Before moving to campus, students should make sure to purchase their permits. They range from free for retirees to $660 for a priority bay permit.

For students who have not purchased their permit, Lot 100 permits can be immediately purchased by using the "My Account" feature on the Texas A&M transportation website, http://transport.tamu.edu.

Proper placement is necessary to avoid receiving a citation.

Those requiring handicap parking spaces must display a county issued handicap hangtag or disabled license plate along with a valid University parking permit from their rearview mirror.

Those who violate handicap parking will be issued a $110 citation that can be paid online at http://transport.tamu.edu.

According to the A&M transportation website, it is considered a violation of the parking regulations for a companion to drop a disabled passenger at a building on one side of campus and park in a handicap space on the other side of campus.

A purchased University parking permit comes with the privilege to park in unrestricted and plain marked spaces in lots other than the lot specified on the permit except lot 30 and lot 40 from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m.

No permit is required in unrestricted or plain marked spaces on Saturday, Sunday or days when the University is officially closed.

If a citation is received it can be paid online at the University transportation website. Fees range from $25 to $110. Those who pay their citation within 14 calendar days after receiving the citation can reduce their fine by $10.

Permit Placement Regulations

Hangtags should be suspended from the vehicle's rearview mirror with the entire permit visible through the front windshield from outside the vehicle.

Self-adhering permits should be permanently affixed to the front windshield in the lower front windshield, on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Placards and special permits should be visible on the dashboard, driver's side of the vehicle.

Motorcycle permits are self-adhering and must be permanently affixed to the back side of the license plate on the rear of the bike or as close to that location as possible. The permit should be easily visible.

Permits may be transferred from vehicle to vehicle.

Should the owner of a self-adhering permit have occasion to bring a different vehicle to campus, a temporary permit should be purchased and displayed prior to parking on campus.
