TYLER - Texas A&M senior Martin Piller fired a five-under-par 66 on Sunday to win the Texas State Open in his professional debut. With a 14-under total of 266 at Cascades Golf Club, Piller banked $25,000. Piller had been the low amateur in each of the last two years. He finished two shots ahead of Dawie Van Der Walt and Shawn Stefani. Piller carded a seven-under 64 in Friday's second round, sparked by a hole-in-one. "It feels good right now," Piller said. "It's good to start off on top. People will always say it can only get worse from here. It feels good to win again, because I haven't won anything since high school. This is way better - there's a check attached to it." Piller, whose college eligibility expired last spring, earned All-Big 12 honors as a junior at A&M in 2007. He also was a two-time PING All-Region selection.
