Texas A&M's newest expansion in its men's golf program is assistant coach, Jonathan Dismuke. He brings collegiate playing and coaching as well as professional golfing experience to the program, and he said he was excited to be here.

"A&M is awesome," Dismuke said. "This is a great place and I enjoy the town. The school is really a unique, special place and I am excited to be a part of it."

Former assistant Chris Gougenheim departed after six years with the program.  

"Jonathan was everything we were looking for in an assistant coach and we are very excited that he is joining our staff," said Head Coach J.T. Higgins on aggieathletics.com.

Upon graduating in 2004 after four successful years as a golfer at Auburn, Dismuke spent the next 2 1/2 years as a professional golfer on the National Golf Association Hooter's Tour. 

 Dismuke spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Mississippi, where he was considered among the top assistant coaches in the country. He was named a finalist for the Jan Strickland award in the previous season, an honor given to the nation's best assistant coach.

 Dismuke proved himself to be a great teacher of the game of golf, and recruiter.

"He is quickly building a strong reputation as a wonderful teacher who can help us develop our players to their utmost potential," Higgins said.

 Texas A&M's men's golf team is a young team with most standout players from a year ago returning in the fall. Under Higgins, Dismuke has the opportunity to help mold the team into one of the nation's best.

 "The sky is the limit," Dismuke said. "We have great facilities, a great university and J.T. [Higgins] is a great recruiter."

His addition should help Texas A&M attract the best players the state has to offer to potentially become the dominant team in the Big 12. Oklahoma State is the only school in the Big 12 ranked higher than the Aggies.
