Biofuels have received a bad rap over the past year. The concern is that using acres of corn, sugar cane, soybeans and rapeseed for ethanol and biodiesel production decreases land use for food crops.

Biofuels are only part of the energy solution, not a panacea.
Soaring oil prices, a foreign policy embroiled in the import of oil and the export of petroleum dollars, the dire environmental impact of burning carbon- based fuels and a future where fossil fuels will run out -- the country is facing an energy crisis.
