Hurricane Ike evacuees seek animal sheltersTexas A&M allots buildings on campus for the care and maintenance of pets and livestock belonging to those fleeing the storm
The Brazos County Emergency Management Team is working with the Brazos Animal Shelter and the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine to help shelter evacuees with large and small animals. It has been shown that many victims of Rita and Katrina refused to leave their animals, putting them in danger.

School back in sessionClasses resume after Hurricane Ike
Hurricane Ike may have devastated Galveston and other coastal cities, but College Station remained relatively unscathed this weekend as it hit land Friday night. While there was rain well into Saturday evening, the damage was minimal.
President Murano has indicated that classes will resume at 8 a.

Brazos beats IkeAs weather conditions worsen, the community prepares to fight back
To keep the residents of the Brazos County and its surrounding area as informed as possible, the Community Emergency Operations Center was activated earlier this week. Composed of the city of College Station, the city of Bryan, Texas A&M University and Brazos County, the Center is responsible for making decisions in times of crisis.

Texas A&M closed Friday
Texas A&M President Elsa Murano announced Thursday that Friday classes will be canceled as a precautionary measure for the approaching Hurricane Ike.
Tropical storm winds and heavy rain are expected to hit the Texas coast and reach the Bryan-College Station area.

Senate passes faculty evaluation bonus bill
The Faculty Evaluation Based Bonus System Bill, which seeks to incorporate student opinion in awarding additional monetary gifts to dedicated teachers, was passed with a 46 to 11 vote at the Student Senate meeting Wednesday.
