University of Texas holds off Miami in Second Round
The two seed Texas Longhorns thought they had everything wrapped up against the Miami Hurricanes. They didn't expect the never say die Canes and an Anti-Texas Arkansas crowd to roar back to life at the end of the game and erase a 17 point. However the Longhorns lead and talent proved to much for Miami and two clutch free throws by AJ Abrams with 9.

Western Kentucky stuns Drake
It's called March Madness for a reason, and this year's poster child of the tournament is easily Western Kentucky and Ty Roger's 26 foot three pointer to give the Hilltoppers the buzz beater overtime win and stun fifth seeded Drake.
"The reason I wanted the ball is because I have faith," said Rogers.

Villanova latest upset in Tampa
Whatever is in the water in Tampa, the underdogs in the other regional's want a taste. For the first time in the NCAA tournament's history, four 12 or lower seeds beat the higher seeds at one location and it was Villanova's late night upset of streaking Clemson that made that fact official.

Blue Devils Survive Belmont
The upstart Belmont Bruins had never won an NCAA tournament game coming into the 2008 tournament. Thursday they came within one point and 11.9 seconds of notching their first win, against storied Duke no less. Unfortunately for the Bruins their upset was taken from them by Duke's Gerald Henderson and his huge game.

Davidson upends Georgetown
Last year Georgetown earned a two seed and made it to the final four. Again this year they earned a two seed and high just as high hopes. Davidson and sophomore Stephen Curry however decided to play spoiler as the small school ten seed handed an NCAA elite two seed a 74-70 loss.

Marquette proves too much for Kentucky
Whether you love him or hate him, respect him or burn effigies of him, no one can deny that former A&M coach Billy Gillespie is doing at Kentucky what he did at UTEP and A&M. After a slow start in the Bluegrass State, the Wildcats came on at the end of the year and earned an eleven seed to the tournament.

Baylor comes up short against Purdue
From the five overtime game against A&M to the celebration in Waco as the last at large team to get into the tournament, Baylor has been one of the 2008 season's great stories. However after the Bears loss to another upstart, the Purdue Boilermakers, in the first round of the tournament, the story is over.

San Diego Stuns UConn
The past few years have been the year's of the Cinderella and the upset in the NCAA Tournament. Kansas and Duke, two storied programs have two first round exits under their belts now and a small school from nowhere in George Mason has made it to a final four usually reserved for powerhouses.

Kansas State and Beasley win Battle of freshman
One of the most intriguing match ups of the first round was Kansas State against USC. This of course also meant super freshmen Michael Beasley and OJ Mayo would go head to head in a battle of future first round NBA draft picks. In the end the Wildcats beat the Trojans 80-67.
