In 2006, Texas A&M football fans saw the best and the worst. The Aggies won all of the road games, had a winning record in conference, played competitively against the best in the Big 12, made it to a high-tier bowl game, and even defeated the Texas Longhorns in Austin.

First inning update: Texas A&M vs. Rice
The Super Regionals get off to a slow start in Houston. Both teams went down without a hit in their first inning. A&M went down in order. Ryan Berry looked dominant for Rice. David Newmann had a shaky start for the Aggies. Leadoff man Brian Friday reached on an error for Rice.

Aggies take the lead in the second at Rice
A&M first baseman Blake Stouffer continued his torrid hitting pace with a double to lead off the second inning.
He scored two batters later to give A&M the 1-0 lead early. Catcher Craig Stinson moved Stouffer to third on a grounder to first. Designated hitter Luke Anders followed with a shot down the first base line which easily scored Stouffer.

End of second inning at Rice: 1-0 A&M
Aggie starter David Newmann worked out of second inning trouble to preserve the lead for A&M.
Newmann walked the first batter, Joe Savery, but induced Jordan Dodson into a ground ball double play.
With two outs, Rice centerfielder Tyler Henly singled up the middle, but Newmann struck out J.

Third inning action from Rice: A&M strikes again, leads 2-0
The Aggies worked some two-out magic to push across another run aginst the Rice Owls.
With two outs, Kyle Colligan pulled a line-drive down the line in left which kicked up the foul-line chalk. He pulled into second for a double.
Brandon Hicks, who earlier today was drafted by the Atlanta Braves, nailed a two-strike pitch for a grounder down the line in left which scored Colligan and went for a double.

Newmann sets Owls down again in third
Texas A&M starting pitcher David Newmann continues to deal in Houston against the Rice Owls.
Newmann worked around a two-out hit batsman without any other trouble. Newmann has only given up one hit and has been given a 2-0 lead by his offense.
From Houston, A&M still leads Rice 2-0.

A&M goes down in order in fourth
Rice pitcher Ryan Berry found a groove in the fourth inning after two rocky innings in a row.
Berry struck out the side, including getting Aggie Brian Ruggiano looking for the third punchout.
Rice has had a few baserunners, but only one hit thus far.

Aggies work out of danger in fourth
A&M starting pitcher David Newmann worked out of fourth inning trouble with an inning-ending double play.
After giving up a leadoff hit to Rice catcher Danny Lehmann, Newmann struck out first baseman Joe Savery.
Rice left fielder Jordan Dodson then walked on four pitches.

Rice on the board in fifth
Errors have played a role in Texas A&M's struggles all year. It just cost the Aggies a run against the Rice Owls.
On a leadoff ground ball to third, Brian Ruggiano made the play but made a bad throw to first which pulled first baseman Blake Stouffer off of the bag.

Aggies unable to capitalize in sixth
After getting the first two batters on, the Aggies' strategy fell apart. Kyle Colligan and Brandon Hicks reached base to lead off the sixth inning for Texas A&M. With nobody out, A&M decided to have Blake Stouffer bunt, but Colligan was thrown out on a fielder's choice at third.

Huge double play ends seventh inning
The Texas A&M Aggies are six outs away from a game one victory in the Houston Super Regional thanks to an amazing double play.
The Owls led off the seventh inning with a base hit by the speedy Brian Friday. Two batters later, Rice slugger Jess Buenger drilled a long fly ball to right field, but Dane Carter made the catch for the second out.

A&M leads 2-1 heading to the bottom of the ninth inning
Rice pitcher Bobby Bramhall, who has pitched the last two innings for Rice, has set the Aggies down without interruption.
Now A&M closer Kyle Nicholson will try to throw his third scoreless inning in a row to end game one in victory for the Aggies.
From Houston, A&M leads 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth.

Extra Innings in Houston: Rice ties game in bottom of the ninth
The Rice Owls waited for the last possible moment to come through in game one of the Houston Super Regional.
A leadoff single by Jordan Dodson put the tying run on base for Rice. Tyler Henley then bunted Dodson over to put him in scoring position.
Third baseman Diego Seastrunk then came through in the clutch for Rice, with a flare to center field that dropped down right in front of Kyle Colligan.

Rice wins in tenth inning, 3-2
After getting the first two outs in the tenth inning, the Aggies were looking forward to getting back into the game in the eleventh inning.
But a bunt single by Danny Lehman and another single by Joe Savery put a runner in scoring position. A&M head coach Brad Childress made the choice to remove pitcher Kyle Nicholson and put in Gary Campfield.

Rice leading 2-0 heading to fourth inning
After surrendering an early run to the Rice Owls in the first inning, it looked as though the Texas A&M Aggies would be able to answer in a big way.
Instead, they failed and completely lost momentum. The Aggies loaded the bases in the bottom of the first on two walks and a hit with nobody out.

A&M gets on the board in fourth inning, trails 3-1
The Aggies came through to score their first runs of the game with two-out hitting.
After giving up only one run in a bases loaded, no out jam the previous half inning, the Aggies offense answered on consecutive doubles.
Catcher Josh Stinson nailed a pitch down the first base line after the first two batters went down.

Rice augments lead in seventh
The Rice Owls added another run to cushion their lead in the seventh inning. They now lead the Texas A&M Aggies 4-1.
Rice center fielder Tyler Henley tripled down the first base line with one out. He scored when the next batter, first baseman Joe Savery, picked up his third hit and third RBI of the game on a ground ball between second and first.

Stouffer goes yard, Aggies trail 5-2
Blake Stouffer hit what might be his last home run in a Texas A&M uniform in the eighth inning on Saturday night against the Rice Owls.
Stouffer got a hold of a pitch and pulled it far over the wall in left field to cut the Owls lead to 5-2.
The Aggies were unable to score any more runs and are now down to their last opportunity in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Rice wins 5-2, heads to College World Series
The Rice Owls closed out the Texas A&M Aggies in the bottom of the ninth to clinch another berth in the 2007 College World Series.
The Aggies went down in order in the ninth. Rice closer Cole St. Clair shut the door and after the win the Rice players celebrated on the field.

Out of reachAggies drop Game 2 to Rice, Owls advance to College World Series
The A&M baseball team was knocked out of the NCAA Baseball tournament Sunday after their second loss to the Rice Owls in the Houston Super Regional.
