Liberal arts play a vital role in the higher education system. All Ivy League universities have a strong foundation in liberal arts. The study of humanities played a great role in the earliest American institutions of higher education, such as Harvard and The College of William and Mary.

I really feel sorry for the maintenance workers on our campus. They spend every working day here cleaning up our trash, sweeping our halls, fixing our broken windows, doors and lights and of course scrubbing our sidewalks to remove chalk drawings.

Mail Call - No employees' jobs should be disrupted

At the behest of the Living Wage Coalition of the Brazos Valley, the Texas A&M Faculty Senate recently passed a resolution that stated that the University should provide a living wage for all of its full-time workers. Initially, President Gates told the Faculty Senate that the University did not have the money to support the resolution.
