When the 78th session of the Texas Legislature passed a law that transferred the authority to set tuition rates to the Board of Regents of each state University, it essentially told current and future students across the state that their voices were irrelevant.

America should withdraw from the United Nations
Undeterred by the League of Nations' inability to prevent World War II, idealists formed the United Nations in 1945. Other than remaining in existence for a longer period of time, the United Nations has been a failure like its predecessor. The time has come for the United States to completely and permanently withdraw from the United Nations and to withhold any future financial support from it and all its agencies.

I would first like to thank Ms. Forson for her wise remark that, "the freedom to dissent is one of the most fundamental of American rights." Here is a pragmatic lesson in exercising dissent: Ms. Forson, as have many administration officials, stated as a presumption, both implicitly and explicitly, American soldiers are fighting in Iraq for our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I have very little respect for Bill Byrne's ideas for Kyle Field after reading Friday's article. Why do we want to pour money into making Kyle that much bigger when we rarely fill it now? I know I am not alone when I say that I take a lot of pride in Kyle Field and its distinctiveness, but I see no need to have the biggest stadium in the nation to have exposure and reel in the best high-school athletes.

As we hurry to the end of another semester I would like to send out a word of thanks. Walking from class today I saw a man picking up trash outside of the Bright building, and I am sure that it was not his. It made me realize how many people take care of this school and never get a word of thanks from one student.
