Enrollment figures increase for minority students at A&M
Minority enrollment has increased at Texas A&M this year with minority scholarships and improved recruiting from the University, said A&M Vice Provost Bill Perry. Although enrollment figures show that overall enrollment decreased from 44,813 to 44,521 last year, minority enrollment increased across the board.

Language splitDepartment forms two studies programs
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages split into two departments this fall; Hispanic Studies and European and Classical Languages and Cultures or "Euro Studies." As of Sept. 1, Spanish language and cultural studies were placed into the Department of Hispanic Studies, and French, German, Russian, Classics (Greek and Latin), Italian and Japanese make up Euro Studies.

Renovated Duncan Dining Center welcomes public
For more than 60 years, Duncan Dining Hall has been a part of many Corps members' lives. From the family-styled dining before 1988, where food was passed around among the cadets, to the cafeteria-style modern dining facility, it has catered to the cadets' dietary needs throughout the years.

Biology and math merge in new curriculum
The National Science Foundation granted the College of Science $1.25 million to develop an interdisciplinary undergraduate program at Texas A&M that will incorporate biology with mathematics and statistics. The 1,144 undergraduate students in the Department of Biology are required to only take basic mathematical classes.

West Campus Library displays professor's art
Art works by Dick Davison, professor of architecture, are on display at the West Campus Library as part of the upcoming 10th anniversary celebration on Friday. The four drawings are hanging in the R. C. Barclay Reference and Retailing Resources Center on the library's first floor.

Pictures with Reveille offered by Aggie Moms
Brazos County Aggie Moms are offering an opportunity to have pictures taken with Reveille, Texas A&M's mascot, prior to the Texas A&M-Kansas State game on Saturday. The photos will be taken from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The location has been changed from the Rudder Scheduling Office to Room 292 on the second floor of Rudder Tower.

New Department of Nutrition and Food Science approved
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has approved the new Department of Nutrition and Food Science at Texas A&M University. "This new department is central to the College of Agriculture and Life Science's signature program in 'Designing Foods for Health'," said C.

'Road to the White House' panel to address voting behavior
Texas A&M's Wiley Lecture Series will host its first program of the 2004-2005 school year on Wednesday (Sept. 29) at 7 p.m. in Room 206 of the Memorial Student Center. The program, "Road to the White House," will present a panel discussing views on voting behavior and the political process for presidential elections.
