Chaos filled the streets of Disaster City Saturday at the 52-acre natural disaster simulation site where Texas A&M Emergency Care Team responded to a mock earthquake. 150 volunteers acted as victims in an environment that included collapsed buildings, rubble piles and a train derailment. Disaster City is used as a training facility for urban search and rescue to prepare medical care teams for a disaster situation and is located near Easterwood airport off FM 2818. The Texas A&M Care Team is a student organization that provides first response medical care at major university events. They helped aid relocated Katrina victims and were first on the scene during the Bonfire collapse. In these photos, volunteer victims wait to be rescued from simulated emergency situations. The identification tag (right) is used during the initial survey by emergency officials to identify the severity of a victim's injury and determine what order to help them.
