Eric M. Bost was the undersecretary for food, nutrition and consumer services at the Department of Agriculture before making his way to South Africa, where he serves as the U.S. ambassador. Prior to his service as the undersecretary, Bost served as commissioner and chief executive officer of the Texas Department of Human Services for four years. Bost received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in special education from the University of South Florida.
