The Bush School Nonprofit Forum expects more than 75 people from the community and university to attend for training on working in nonprofits on Friday.
The forum provides opportunities for nonprofit organizations and volunteers to create a vision to organize businesses with the common goal of bettering the community. The agenda is packed with speakers including Alan Andreasen, professor of marketing and director of the Social Marketing Institute at Georgetown University, Steve Moore, chief marketing officer at Texas A&M and A&M President Elsa A. Murano.
William Brown, an associate professor in the Bush School of Government and Public Service, has studied nonprofit organizations. Brown said he found a need for nonprofit training in the area.
"Normally everyone has to go to Austin or Houston for that and it would be easier if we just had one right here in town," Brown said.
After a smaller but similar event this past fall, the decision to sponsor this forum became a priority, he said. The boost in nonprofit training of this event is beneficial to resumes as well, he added.
