An e-mail was sent throughout the Texas A&M Division of Student Affairs on Monday morning announcing the resignation of Vice President for Student Affairs Dean Bresciani.

Sent by David Parrott, associate vice president for student affairs and dean of student life, the e-mail stated, "effective Friday evening and communicated to department heads early this morning, Dr. Bresciani announced that he has been asked to submit his resignation and that I have been appointed to serve as interim vice president for student affairs. This turn of events was certainly not how Dr. Bresciani and I would have intended to spend our Friday evening and weekend. Nevertheless, we are both professionals and are quite adept at responding to the realities of transitions of power from one administration to the next. I am sure you will join me in wishing Dr. Bresciani all the best as he moves on to the next phase of his career."

Parrott and Bresciani were not available for comment on Monday.

Jason Cook, vice president for marketing and communications, said that President Elsa Murano met with Bresciani on Friday.

"Obviously we are dealing with a personnel issue," Cook said. "It's the University's policy not to talk about personnel issues."

"Dr. Murano has not made any official announcement about any change of leadership within the division of student affairs."
