I have worked with statistical toold and yes, the data that can be obtained is very accurate and dangerous if it is used for any other purpose than it was meant to be. So be careful with what data you share.

Not true rehab person. Statistics...dangerous? Get real. Good information is hard to come by. The stuff you get on tamu's library databases is no big secret and this topic is an old debate.
Take the writer's advice and go on Amazon. You will find reviews of "Supercrunchers" and realize that what is being talked about is nothing new and is only innovative in the sense that "Freakonomics" was infotainment economics easily digested by the average joe.

When doing data-driven programming, one clearly distinguishes code from the data structures on which it acts, and designs both so that one can make changes

I found your article pretty interesting and well-written. Though we all have heard of data mining since a few years, but the various uses it can be put to are not only surprising, but quite shocking too!
