Howdy,
I would like to challenge the students of Texas A&M to take a step further than the Student Health Services and BACCHUS suggest; saving sex for marriage is the most responsible sexual decision one can make. Negative emotional, mental, and physical effects from premarital sex are sweeping our nation and our world from a lack of control and a lack of concern for others. Lust creates a selfish attitude, using sex for only personal pleasure. Throwing condoms at students as if they were nothing more than animals, will not solve any of these problems. Instead, it only furthers the deception that students may do what they please sexually, without any emotional or mental consequences to themselves or the other person.
I say during this Sexual Responsibility Week, we get responsible, grow up, and realize sex was meant for marriage and is our way to bring another human life into the world, not merely for selfish enjoyment. Until we understand the full power and meaning of sex, we will not be responsible enough handle it, no matter how many condoms we pass out.

Matt,
Various people have sexual relationships for various reasons. Although I fully respect and understand your position, I also believe that is naive to think that humans should use sex as a reproduction-only activity. I challenge your argument of saying that it causes emotional and mental stress by stating that it does quite the opposite if practiced correctly with the right partner. I believe the point you are trying to drive home is that promescuity is wrong. I agree with you to a certain degree on that point. As far as saving sex until marriage, I disagree.
Lust is wrong and irresponsible when not controlled. Sex before marriage does not constitute irresponsibility as your opinion states. Irresponsibility, in my opinion, comes when sex is used as a method to dominate the opposite sex emotionally or physically. A healthy and open sexual relationship should be encouraged among partners who wish to explore that side of their relationship, whether married or not. Please note that I stated a HEALTHY sexual relationship. Healthy meaning taking into account each persons values, emotions and medical health into account.
Just my two cents.
