Utah based company lures "door-to-door" salesmen
Abstract:
The chance at TV stardom and a mountain of cash isn't one many people pass up. For many college students, the thought of a reality show combined with summer employment was too good to ignore....

I have already seen some of the same guys on campus trying to recruit more guys. Do not let them set up a meeting with you. These guys are slick, and will confuse you and manipulate you. They will throw around a lot of money. Don't make the same mistake I did. Just say no.
I am one of the Texas A&M students that went out with Firstline too, but my experience shows the positive side of the job. I worked in Jacksonville, FL last summer and can honestly say that I learned more in one summer than I have ever learned in my life. The fact is that this job can provide college students the ability to make more money than they ever thought possible in just a summer of work. I know several individuals personally that made over 40 thousand dollars in just the summer months of 2007. The company also takes the employees that qualify on a 8-day cruise to Mexico which I took part in, it was awesome!! Not only that but working in a door-to-door job is a huge resume builder because it shows employers that you are willing to work hard. This job is as dishonest as you want to make it. The people that do well are the ones that are honest with everyone they meet. I am going to work for the company next summer and cant wait to get back out there.

My son was also a Firstline recruit and his summer left him deeply in debt with nothing to show for it but the clothes on his back. I've blogged extensively about Firstline and have many, many responses from Firstline customers, summer sales recruits and employees.
According to the comments posted today, Firstline is in serious financial difficulty and failed to make the payroll for its service centers today. Makes you wonder how they coughed up $750K for The Prodigy, eh?
It was a pyramid scheme that is now collapsing.

Dustin Delay,
I am receiving a deluge of comments from employees at Firstline's customer care center saying they didn't receive their paychecks because of a legal matter that Firstline is involved with. Have you received everything you were due for the summer work? Do you have a reasonable expectation of receiving the final settlement on February 1st?
I'm glad you found door-to-door sales to be your cup of tea, but I think you should consider a different company.

Firstline filed for bankruptcy today. It is a sad story of a company that had great potential and noble motives that succumbed to poor management, big egos, and simple greed.
The stories from 2007 were not typical of the first 5 years of the company... sad to see it end.

Dustin,
I'm also interested if you worked out everything with Firstline- they just filed a Chapter 11. I hope you will recoup everything and stick in the industry- the industry is great, just a series of bad events for Firstline.
