Hello. I am the Chair of the Southwest Intercollegiate Fencing Association (SWIFA), which is the collegiate conference for fencing in Texas. I have been fencing and coaching fencing for 30 years and change. I competed against the Aggies in the '70s and the early '80s. The Aggies were always some of our toughest competitors! It was me and a couple of Aggies representing Texas in the Nationals in New York City back in 1980.

Although I am now way too old now to fence collegiate, I personally know all of the people mentioned in this article and still fence with them in open (non-collegiate)competitions. They are all good kids and very good fencers.

You should be proud of the Aggie fencing program. They do you, and Texas A&M proud! Your fencers always were and are still very tough! Gig 'em!

The Aggies are hosting the first SWIFA tournament of the 2007-2008 season on September 22 in the 3rd floor gym in Read Hall starting at 9:00 A.M. and continuing into the late afternoon. It is free and open to the public to come watch.

I saw some of them fence at the US College Fencing Club championships in Indiana. The college fencing scene is very dynamic and fun to watch.

Good luck this coming season.

Hey-I have special favor to ask-my husband,Stanley Caplan(class of 1978)fenced for Texas A&M while a student
He won several medals and I believe was a state champion at one point. He still has his fencing uniform, equipment and a couple of t-shirts.As you can imagine the tshirts now are full of holes and very worn yet his 15 yr old son refuses to stop wearing them.I wonder is there any way I can purchase new tshirts for him?I also would like to send a contribution in my husband's honor to support the fencing club-please let me know where to send. Thanks,Linda Caplan.

Could you please look this over and consider our request for links...

The purpose of this site is to further High School Fencing in the United States. Coaches and High School Administrators are invited to post results and commentary. Fencers and Parents are invited to post commentary, not results. We have received positive feedback from several college coaches with regard to the creation of this blog. This is not a site intended to cause pain or grief, but rather give national prominence to the Athletes and the Sport.

We at Proprintwear are proud of our association with the sport of fencing. Our owner was first a Fencer, secondly a National Referee and now a business owner committed to furthering the image of fencing.

We have added a "Where to Fence" and "Fencing Camp" Sections to advertise fencing clubs and fencing camps. If you like to be posted send us a request. This could be extremely helpful in the recruitment of new fencers.

You will find a short survey at the bottom of the page. Please feel free to contact us with suggested questions at proprintwear@optonline.net. If this site is well received, we shall have a web site constructed to further enhance the development of High School Fencing in the United States.

If possible please provide us with a link to our website using the attached file at www.proprintwear.com and a second link to our High School Fencing Blog at http://highschoolfencing.blogspot.com/

Sincerely,
Philip J. Daly
