Mr.Leabo was one of the reasons I stayed at A&M to finish my journalism degree. He was a compassionate, funny, liberal influence at a very conservative school in the 1960s. I still remember wandering into his office while he was sitting back reading Abbie Hoffman's "Steal This Book." I asked him if he stole it, and he shook with laughter. He seemed delighted that a member of the Corps would want to know about the reasons behind Hoffman's rebellion. I admired Mr. Leabo very much.

Skip Leabo was one of the finest men I have ever known. I took a few courses in journalism from Skip in the late 1960's, and we became close friends ever after. Skip was a hard working, professional man who opened the world to anyone who met him. Skip was very bright, well-read, a super cook, and he always was ready to help anyone who needed help.

He loved his family deeply and wanted to be sure they were aware of everything around them. My heart goes out to Kathy and the children. They will really miss Skip; we will all miss Skip...

I am grateful for the friendship we shared through the years and for all that Skip taught me. I will never forget you, Skip! God be with you.

Sincerely,
Peter Dunsavage, '69

I thought this debate was about them, as opposed to featuring them. Whoops.
