While I am a devoted Christian, I dont see how acknowledging the non-randomness of the universe "proves" the existance of God. A good critic would just chalk it up to coincidence. The universe is basically infinite when compared to the scope of man and at any time there are an unmeasurable amount of reactions happening throughout it. The idea of chance is brought up in the article as well, and anyone whose ever taken a basic Calc class here at A&M will tell you that eventually, every possible outcome to an equation with any probability of occurance, no matter how small, will happen. Therefore, it IS totally within reason to say that the universe IS random and Earth and its inhabitants just ARE. Also, just because we found an even older version of the bible stories, it doesnt prove their existance either. It just means they originated from earlier times. And since Bible stories are fairly similar to those across ALL religions, its no surprise that they are very old. A belief in a higher power is one thing, but its ridiculus and dense to think you've "proven" what only He knows and understands...dont pass it off as scientific. Its forums like this that make some people reject religion as nothing more than BS. You cant PROVE there is a God...you just know it in your heart - thats what makes it a sacred, personal, SPIRITUAL BELIEF.

Yes, the universe has laws and rules governing what happens. It could be some creator or designer that made these rules. How does that then translate to proof of a Christian God and not proof of a Muslim God? It is, at most, proof of some sort of god. But, how does that relate to Jesus Christ as our savior? It doesn't. A prophecy about a Jesus Christ figure also does not mean that the historical Jesus was that figure. Couldn't it be possible that that guy was a hoax and we are still waiting for the real 'Jesus'? The prophecy did not say that Jesus would come in XX amount of years. At the time of Jesus Christ, there were a lot of people claiming to be the son of God, not just Jesus. All of them, including Jesus, were shunned. Should we look at Nostradamus' prophecies as true too then because some things came true?

I can find people that have "proof" that big foot roams the Rocky Mountains, that humans have been abducted by aliens, and that Atlantis exists at the North Pole. My six year old daughter talks to her invisible friends and believes in the tooth fairy, but I would hope that college students would be a little more discerning.

Very informative...has to all come down to your own faith and what you truly believe though...extremely well written article!

Just to clarify what Ames said, the Muslim God and the Christian God are.... THE SAME

which makes why we have fought each other since the 600s AD is beyond me

So if the magnetic permeability constant was different in one part in a million, people wouldn't be here, but then again, god wouldn't exist either, since there would be no people to invent him. Cause and effect is not a miracle, and anyone who claims that a series of events is such a coincidence doesn't understand the anthropic principle. Anything will seem amazing when you try to retro-fit data to ridiculous beliefs.

It's nice to see the created searching for their Creator! Seek and ye shall find. Next, I might suggest, look into your heart, and into the heart of others, to see the "image and likeness" of God
