I can't believe anyone could think that the Northgate Music Fest is anything like SouthBySouthWest. What a load of crap. "It gives residents of College Station a chance to see hidden, local talent on more than eight stages and in six venues?" So what? SXSW has thousands of bands and artists from all over the world (including some pretty big names as well as unknowns) in roughly 100 venues, not to mention the shows going on at the same time that aren't affiliated with the festival. I've been to SXSW every year for the last 5. Trust me, there's nothing like it in College Station. What few good bands there are here usually travel to Houston, Austin, or Dallas to play their shows.
