Silver Taps to honor 11 Aggies

A&M's hallowed tradition of Silver Taps will recognize 11 Aggies who have died since the last Silver Taps in April. Silver Taps takes place the first Tuesday of every month during the school year, the first for the Fall semester will be held at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in front of the Academic Building.
The Aggies being honored are:
Silver Taps begins with the darkening of most campus lights at 10:20 p.m. Students and families will make their way to Academic Plaza, after which the Ross Volunteers march to the plaza and present a 21-gun salute. Following that, anonymous buglers from the Aggie band will play a special rendition of "Taps".
According to the Traditions Council, three buglers play Taps facing to the west, north and south, but not to the east, "because the sun will never rise again on those Aggies."
Attendees are asked to leave the ceremony in complete silence.
The Aggies being honored are:
- Amy Lela Foster, a freshman economics major from Bossier City, La.
- Seong-Ha Hwang, a doctoral student in civil engineering from Inbong-Dong, South Korea
- Jeremy Alan Kersh, a senior electrical engineering major from Flint
- Chae Kwan Lim, a doctoral student in civil engineering from Kumho, South Korea
- Donna Diane Martine, a graduate student in educational curriculum and instruction from Houston
- Andrea Elysse McKenna, a senior interdisciplinary studies major from Galveston
- Gary Wayne Nolan, a senior agricultural engineering major from Thornton
- James Erall O'Brien, a senior wildlife and fisheries major from College Station
- Hannah Beth Ann Peterson, a graduate student in educational curriculum and instruction from Shreveport, La.
- Brittany Lyn Sonnier, a junior interdisciplinary studies major from Livingston
- Tynesha Devonna Stewart, a freshman general studies major from Houston
