Texas A&M junior basketball player Joseph Jones announced today that he has entered his name into the 2007 NBA draft, going against a previous statement by Jones saying he was going to stay at A&M for his senior year.

Jones did say it is still possible for him to return to A&M next year because he has not hired an agent.

"I just want to test the water and see how I can compete against the best players in the world," Jones said.

Speculation about Jones's reasons for declaring include the recent head coaching change at Texas A&M, when previous coach Billy Gillispie left A&M for the University of Kentucky. A&M hired former Witchita State head coach Mark Turgeon to replace Gillispie.

Jones must withdraw his name from the draft by June 18 if he wants to stay at A&M. The draft will be held on June 28.

Thanks, Jazz. However, for anyone who has followed A&M basketball, this isn't coming as a shock. Everyone expected Jones to declare, test the waters, and return. (Continued…)

Exactly John... Plenty of players do this. They want the chance to work out infront of NBA scouts to learn what their weaknesses are and what they should keep working on. (Continued…)
