The Aggie softball team ended their first trip to the Women's College World Series in 20 years by losing to the Baylor Lady Bears 7-4.
By beating A&M, Baylor grabbed their first-ever win in the WCWS.
The game started off with a promising look for A&M, as Meghan Gibson hit a solo home run off Baylor pitcher Lisa Ferguson in the first inning. But the hope of an easy win was quickly diminished in the bottom of the first, when Baylor catcher Chelsi Lake doubled to center field, allowing Brette Reagan and Kirsten Shortridge to score, putting Baylor up 2-1.
Baylor put the game out of the Aggies' reach in the bottom of the third inning by scoring four runs, three of which came off of a home run by designated hitter Courtney Orberg.
A&M looked like the they had had a shot of bringing the score back to even after third baseman Jami Hinshaw hit a two-run single in the top of the fifth, and left fielder Jami Lobpries scored in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by short stop Macie Morrow.
But Baylor answered with one more run in the bottom of the sixth and pitched a hitless top of the seventh to end the game.
The loss means A&M is eliminated from the Women's College World Series. Baylor goes on to play second-seeded Northwestern tonight.
