The long wait has finally come to an end as the BCS presidents came to an agreement to install a four team seeded playoff that will take the place of the current controversial BCS Bowl system starting in 2014.
The format calls for current BCS bowls to serve as locations for playoff games rotating every year. The rotation for the first year has yet to be determined. The playoff bowl games figure to bring in more than five billion dollars in revenue to be shared in an undetermined way.
A selection committee will select teams for the playoffs, similar to that of the NCAA basketball tournament. The selection committee, yet to be determined, will look at strength of schedule, win-loss record, and conference champions. Possible selection of teams includes the top-four ranked teams, three top teams and an at-large bid.
Alas, the long awaited playoffs are just around the corner.
