Walk in my shoes

22Barcelona skyline: Most people can tell I am a tourist with the amount of pictures I take as I walk the streets of Barcelona. Many pictures I share are in the older part of the city. However, I felt it necessary to show what life looks like in my neighborhood, 22Barcelona. Known for its innovation, 22Barcelona was once a factory district that has been in renovation for several years and is home to large variety of companies and corporations. Walking out of my student residence, I am greeted with a rugged skyline mixed with modern architecture along with plenty of construction. In the distance, the famous Torre Agbar stands out as a perfect example of the more contemporary, technological and business district where I reside.

Ensaimads: Walking to class is quite a scene. People gather at all times of the day at local restaurants for coffee, snacks or meals. I'm always greeted with the great aromas from the cafés. There is one bakery on my walk to class where I've already become a regular. I just can't seem to pass by the window of fresh baked goods without stopping. Occasionally I meet up with a classmate for a traditional winter pastry called ensaimadas, which translates to rich, sweet awesomeness. Along with fresh made apple juice, how could a day start off any better?

Carrer de la Marina: This street is highly traveled and lined with numerous stores, banks and restaurants galore! It's the main path from my apartment to school and the beach. Traveling up or down the busy avenue is breath taking. Looking down the road on my walk to school shows signs of the more modern part of Barcelona, created to host the 1992 Olympics. While looking in the opposite direction, Guadi's immaculate creation of La Sagrada Familia is a reminder of how old and historical the city is.
