Tips to a healthy summer

It’s that time of year again. We’ve survived the seemingly never ending torment of finals, followed by the hibernation period caused by lack of sleep and a massive caffeine crash, and now summer break truly begins.
As you are beginning summer school, working, or mooching off your parents, you may discover that your grades aren’t the only things that are haunting you this summer. The junk food that eased your studying boredom (tempting sbisa cookies) and the sedentary studying are all taking their toll, just in time for swimsuit season!
Don’t put away those bikinis just yet! Every week, I will be blogging about health and fitness that is easily applicable for college students. From recipes to workouts – you will have the tools you need to flaunt a fitter you.
This week, we will tackle the vice of every Aggie: frozen yogurt. You may be thinking to yourself that frozen yogurt is healthy. Wrong.
On average, the yogurt alone has 30 calories per ounce.
I don’t know about you, but I put a lot more than an ounce in my cup.
Now add on the toppings, Reeses, Butterfinger, cookie dough bites, cheesecake … the list goes on and on. It all adds up, pretty fast.
Okay okay. So am I completely against froyo? Anyone who knows me would laugh at that thought. I simply suggest being mindful of what you are eating. Pick the smallest cup they have, and don’t fill up the whole thing! Stick with light condiments like fruit and graham cracker crumbs. Your wallet and your thighs will thank you.
