My name is Jeffrey Frankens and I am a senior international studies major/Arabic minor at Texas A&M University. This summer two fellow Aggies and myself will be in Amman, Jordan producing a feature-film documentary about Palestinian refugees in Jordan. We want you to be a part of that journey with us. Hopefully this blog will be able to show you our experiences, both successes and failures while we are in Jordan.
Our documentary has been in pre-production for over a year now. We have met everyone from directors in the UNRWA, to leaders of Fatah, and even to simple refugees before arriving in Jordan. These contacts create an interesting stream of information, opinions, and perceptions. It is our job to filter that and find the truth to be able to give to the people back home. This blog will attempt to help document that process as well as give our own opinions and perceptions of things going on around us.
Personally, this experience in Jordan is extremely important and special to me. While the documentary is our main mission, this time abroad gives me the chance to explore the career opportunities I believe I want to take. When in Jordan we are hoping to work with some humanitarian and peace keeping organizations that I am looking into one day working for. This is also a great opportunity to get involved with journalism in the Middle East. Both of these career paths are currently fighting for my time and passion.
This Summer I encourage you to email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions. Most of these blog posts, as well as some others ones, will be posted on my main blog at www.jeffrey.miragefilms.org. I hope you enjoy this journey as much as we do.
