College Station Cinemark will be presenting a special encore showing of The Wizard of Oz Tuesday evening in honor of the movie's 70th anniversary.

The encore movie is part of a national event that includes over 300 theatres. The original movie opened on Aug. 15, 1939, and was awarded the Best Picture Academy Award.

"The Wizard of Oz was a really cool, very classic kind of show," said Lizzy Pearson, a freshman biomedical sciences major. "I think it's cool that it's showing here again."

For many students, the movie was a classic tale and a reminder of childhood.

"I used to watch it as a kid, so it's cool that they're redoing it in digital now," said freshman history major Hailey Jumper.

The movie will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Cinemark Movies 18 at Highway 6 and Harvey Road. Tickets are being sold for $10.
