The Texas A&M student charged with intoxication assault Sunday was released from Brazos County Jail Monday.

Aaron Z. Somers, a senior construction science major, was released on $20,000.

Somers, driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, struck a 1996 Mercury sedan driven by Michelle Briggs, a 36-year-old College Station resident, on Harvey Mitchell Parkway near West Luther Street.

The College Station Police and Fire Department responded to the scene at 3:22 a.m. Sunday, and found the Toyota truck on its roof and the sedan in a ditch. First responders found Briggs unconscious in the driver's seat of the car.

The College Station Medical Center confirmed Briggs was listed in stable condition Monday. Somers, who resides in Bryan, incurred no serious injuries in the accident.

Somers, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, attended the fraternity's Jungle Crush party before the accident. The fraternity house is located on Luther Street.

Intoxication assault has a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Somers was not available for comment and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity declined to comment.
