Committee members for Big Event were recognized by the College Station City Council for their leadership roles in the community service project at the council meeting on Thursday.

Along with playing a commemorative video at the meeting, Texas A&M students Jordan Hackney, Heather Street, Kristi Kuzma, Brittany Brunson and Ryan Rabalais received T-shirts and other mementos from the council.

"We appreciate you and all who participated in the Big Event," said Ron Silvia, mayor of College Station. "We love you and love having you here in College Station."

More than 9,700 students participated in Big Event on March 24.
