Aggie football players on pre-season award watch

Four more members of the Texas A&M football team have received pre-season watch list recognition. This makes five members total; senior center Cody Wallace was placed on the Rimington Trophy watch list last week.

Defensive linemen Chris Harrington and Red Bryant were named to the Chuck Bednarik Award watch lists which is is given annually to the best defensive player in college football.

Harrington, a senior from Houston, has recorded 13 career sacks and was a first team All-Big 12 selection in 2006. Bryant, a senior from Jasper, Texas, has four sacks and 85 tackles in his career.

Junior quarterback Stephen McGee and sophomore running back Michael Goodson were placed on the Maxwell Award watch list. This award goes to the most outstanding player in college football.

McGee led the Aggies to nine wins the previous season, including a win against the Texas Longhorns in Austin. He was in an elite group of quarterbacks who threw for 2,000 or more yards while rushing for 600 or more yards.

Michael Goodson made an immediate impact in 2006 as a freshman. He ran for 847 yards to lead all Big 12 freshmen and averaged 6.7 yards per carry.
