A month after taking a fastball to the face from Texas A&M sophomore pitcher Barrett Loux, Houston junior catcher Chris Wallace returned to the Cougars' lineup.
Wallace, who went 9-for-18 in his first week back, will meet the Aggies again today at Olsen Field.
A&M defeated Houston 5-3 in the final game of the Houston College Classic. The Aggies have since gone 13-9, losing two midweek games and dropping two conference series.
The Cougars lost eight of the next nine games but have since gone 10-3, including the current six-game winning streak.
Wallace joined the team for the third consecutive win Wednesday. Against University of Texas-San Antonio, Wallace went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a single and a double.
Conference USA named Wallace the conference's Hitter of the Week after he knocked four doubles, three home runs and 13 RBIs this past week. Wallace leads the team in home runs and slugging percentage.
The second time around, Wallace will not have to bat against Loux. A&M will start junior Chad Sherman, who has a 5.62 ERA and has allowed batters to hit .303 against him.
The Aggies will look to senior center fielder Kyle Colligan to continue recovering from an early season slump. Colligan hit a home run against the Cougars in the Houston College Classic.
