The No. 13 Texas A&M baseball team split two of the three games scheduled this weekend against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. A&M won the first game on Friday by a score of 7-4, and the Raiders took the Saturday contest 8-3. The third game was cancelled due to the inclement weather at Dan Law Field in Lubbock.

Officials knew of the weather conditions, which were only expected to get worse through the weekend and scheduled a double header on Saturday to avoid having to play on Sunday. However, as the wind chill dropped to below 20 degrees Fahrenheit after the first game on Saturday, it became obvious that a night game would be impossible. Snow and even colder temperatures on Sunday made the cancellation official.

The Aggies won the first game on the strength of a five-run second inning, highlighted by a three-run double by junior left fielder Ben Feltner. A&M junior starting pitcher David Newmann picked up the win after pitching five innings and improved his record to 5-1.

"I feel like the last three games we have started to settle down a little bit and play the way we are capable of playing," said A&M head coach Rob Childress." That is (the) way we were playing at the beginning of the season."

Opportunism made the difference in the second game, as the Red Raiders, who were out-hit by the Aggies 11-10, made better use of their chances and won 8-3. Tech sophomore outfielder Roger Kieschnick had a field day against Aggie pitching, going 4 for 5 with a triple, a home run, and two RBIs. Raiders sophomore starting pitcher A.J. Ramos struck out seven in seven innings and got the win.

After the split, A&M is 27-7 on the season (6-5), and Texas Tech is 21-13 (5-6). The cancelled game will not be rescheduled.
