Halloween is the best holiday of the year. Sure, Thanksgiving and Christmas can be fun, but Halloween is the only day that allows the general public to dress up and act crazy without anyone's disapproval.
"Yeah, I might go to a party, or I might go to Northgate," Courtney Allen, a junior finance major, said.
Whatever the plans are for Friday, put some thought into the festivities. There are thousands of ways to make it a night to remember.
"My church is having a party so I'll probably go to that," said Julie Letourneau, a freshman chemical engineering major.
Some even prefer to stay in on Halloween.
"We're watching a scary movie," said Heather Hosler, a sophomore nutrition major. "We're not going to a party."
But no matter what you do, decorations are important. And, obviously, you'll need the perfect costume. Refreshments, however, will make the celebration great and since at least one pumpkin for decoration is essential, use the seeds to make a delicious snack. Another favorite treat is mud pudding. Pudding, just like Jell-o, can bring life to a party.
Mud pudding 1 package instant chocolate pudding 2 cups milk ½ cup crushed Oreos A handful of gummy worms
Make the pudding as instructed on the package. Once the pudding is firm, mix in the Oreos and gummy worms. *It will taste better if you put Kahlua in the pudding.
Sweet & spicy pumpkin seeds The seeds of one pumpkin (strings removed, unrinsed) 5 tablespoons sugar ¼ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon ground cumin ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon ground ginger 1 pinch cayenne 1½ tablespoons peanut oil
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Spread the seeds out on the sheet and bake at 250? for 20 minutes, or until the seeds turn a very light gold color. Heat the peanut oil in a skillet over high heat. Add pumpkin seeds and 2 tablespoons sugar. Cook until sugar melts and the pumpkin seeds begin to caramelize, about 45 to 60 seconds. Combine the spices and the rest of the sugar in a bowl and add the seeds. Stir well and let cool.
