As a member of the Class of 2003 and as a graduate student of TAMU, I am both proud of and disappointed in the current SBP election. I am proud of the passion and determination that the student body has exhibited in becoming literate of candidates' platforms, experiences and leadership qualifications. Activism, along with media and political literacy, are necessary components for a functioning and fair democracy.

However, I am immensely disappointed. We are students of a university that pride ourselves as being members of the greater Aggie family, and we are citizens of a country where people are innocent until proven guilty.

The J-Court found Marcella Colbert "innocent of all charges filed against her" and that she "was justified in her actions and performed with the utmost integrity in her campaign on all charges."

Let us move on and vote for the candidate who has demonstrated the utmost integrity and strength of character in the face of adversity from members of our own Aggie family. On Thursday I will cast my SBP vote for Colbert, the candidate who has proven she is an upright leader regardless of the nature of the challenge.
