I've noticed that Lot 77/30 has become increasingly dangerous and detrimental to drive vehicles in. As most of us know, the campus is riddled with pot holes of all shapes and sizes, and though I know neither the nature nor condition of other lots on campus, I do know this parking lot is an embarrassment to all who proudly call themselves Aggies. The $240-a-year per parking spot change is likely more than enough to maintain the lot, unless this money were to be misappropriated by Transportation Services. Approximately $3.2 million in revenue is generated each year by sale of surface lot permits alone according to their site. While I do realize that fixing this during the semester would cause unnecessary pain and anguish, it still begs the question as to why this was not fixed during the summer or last Christmas break.
Another concern that is yet more pressing is the fact that there are two large dumpsters on the edge of the turn into the lot that obscures the line of site of anyone driving into or out of it. Even at parking-lot speeds, the physical and financial risk to students and those driving is too much for something that could so easily be avoided by the removal or relocation of these monstrous obstructions.
With that said, I believe it is not too much to ask that these problems be fixed in not just the interest of paying customers, but in the interest of Aggies everywhere who point to this University as a world class institution. It is flaws like these, though minor in light of the bigger picture, which tarnish the impressions of both prospective students and visitors alike.
